Turnout was heartening

October 24, 2012
Fairmont Sentinel

To the Editor:

On behalf of Mayo Clinic Health System I am writing to thank members of the community who attended our recent program about advance care planning and end-of-life communication and planning. It was heartening to see the dozens of people from the Fairmont community come together and learn more about the human experience of end-of-life care.

These conversations can take an emotional, physical and spiritual toll on patients and their families; and we know the medical center is just one of the key providers of care when it comes to end-of-life care and advance care planning. That's why we are partnering with members of the faith community, the legal community and others to join together to lighten the burden on patients and their families.

Everyone needs to know how to ensure that you will be cared for and how you can care for others. That's why Mayo Clinic Health System is proud to offer these important services right here in Fairmont.
