‘Stuff’ went well

October 15, 2012
Fairmont Sentinel

To the Editor:

The "Stuff for School" project had another successful year. This was the 13th year and included all schools in the county.

We had 285 children this year receive their school supplies. Each child received: pencils, scissors, Crayolas, pencil boxes, a folder, Kleenex, glue sticks and a sleep mat. 3M Company donated 3M supplies to each parent. This year, each child also received backpacks.

On Wednesday, Aug. 8, the supplies were counted out according to each school's needs. On Aug. 9, the 3M Cares volunteers packed out the supplies for each school. On Sept 4-5, the volunteers handed out the supplies at Fairmont Elementary. More than 150 children came in groups throughout the day with their parents and teachers.

As a volunteer group, 3M Cares has an overwhelming amount of support and help in order to make it all work and make it a success each year.

We wish to thank all the individuals and businesses who have given to this wonderful project. We want to get the kids off to a good start on entering kindergarten. It is such fun to make it all work for them.

Thank you to Michelle Rosen and Bob Wallace for all of their help.
