To the Editor:

The volunteer caregivers organization "CREST" needs you. People who are elderly or who have disabilities need help with everyday activities, such as simple chores, a trip to the doctor's office or a friendly visit to just say hello.

CREST is dedicated to helping others by fostering caring relationships. CREST has been in existence for 14 years and serves those in need in Martin County.

Currently, CREST is looking for volunteers who can help with tasks such as transportation, friendly visiting, telephone reassurance, home helper, respite care and minor home repair.

When people of different faiths reach out and help those in need, it means people are keeping their independence. Even just a few hours a month can make a world of difference. In today's fast-paced world, it's nice to just reach out and help your neighbor with something simple. You can make time to help someone in need because a neighbor's independence depends on you. If you are interested in being a CREST volunteer, you can call (507) 235-3833 and find out more information.

CREST director
