WINTHROP - Quarterback Jake Faber completed 10 of 15 passes for an incredible game-best 285 yards and five touchdowns to power the Martin County West Mavericks to a 54-12 football victory over the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds on Friday night in Winthrop.
MCW split end Austin Krumwiede made efficient use of his game-high four receptions, scoring three times en route to a game-leading 144 yards.
Wideout Kyle Brolsma caught two passes for 111 yards and one TD for the Mavericks, while wide receiver Cordell Weber's only catch - a 22-yard connection from Faber - produced six points.
Running back Mitch Sitzmann topped MCW's ground game by rushing four times for 47 yards and one TD, while Faber also ran for a score.
Anders Fuller rounded out the Mavericks' high-scoring ways by kicking a pair of field goals, in addition to nailing 6 of 7 PAT kicks.
Alex Biehn, Wes Cook and Sitzmann each pocketed interceptions to top the blue-and-black attack's defensive performance.
Running back Tanner Wiethoff produced one rushing TD for the Thunderbirds, while receiver Mitch Kiecker caught a 64-yard scoring strike from quarterback Frank Fairchild.
Martin County West (3-2) plays host to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial (4-1) at 7 p.m. Friday night in Sherburn.
GFW (1-4) travels to Mapleton on Friday to face Maple River.
