Burial will be held at a later date in the Mauston City Cemetery in Mauston, Wis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakeview Funeral Home.

Doris passed away Friday, September 14, 2012, at her home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doris Mae Kastner was born September 13, 1934, on a farm near Mauston, Wis., the daughter of Richard and Anna (Pier) Kastner. As a young girl, Doris moved with her family to Kiester where she attended Kiester Public School.

Following the death of her father in 1960, Doris moved to Faribault. She would later move to St. Peter and Mankato before moving to Fairmont in 1986. In 2001, Doris was excited to move from her apartment to a home of her own on South Hampton St. in Fairmont.

Doris enjoyed playing hopscotch and ball with her siblings and friends in her younger years. Doris's favorite shows to watch were John Wayne movies and bull riding competitions on T.V. Her quiet time was spent reading magazines and newspapers and she cherished the opportunity to have pie and "good" coffee with friends. Doris also looked forward to and treasured her visits from family members. She made fond memories through the years going to Fox Lake Cabin and also on trips to Sioux Falls to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Doris enjoyed working and socializing with her friends at STEP Inc. until she retired in 2012. She will be greatly missed by those that loved her and called her friend. She had wonderful support and help from United Hands Hospital Hospice Staff.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sisters, Selma Engebretson of Albert Lea, and Margaret Simonson of Kiester; brother, Richard (Darleen) Kastner of Sugarland, Texas; house-mates Nancy Boettcher, Carolyn Pitcher, and Valerie Wipplinger; as well as many nieces, nephews, her caretakers at REM and STEP Inc.; as well as her many friends.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Anna Kastner; two brothers, Willard Kastner and Carl Kastner; sister, Vera Stolt; sisters-in-law, Alice Kastner and La Vonne Kastner; brothers-in-law, VirGene Engebretson, Elmer Simonson, and Loren Stolt; nephews, Gary Kastner and Dillon Gordon; and niece, Kelly Ann Miller.
