"I think our first doubles team is very strong at the net and has more consistent serving," said Martin County West head coach Ross Bettin. "They started out playing second doubles, but earned their place at first doubles in a close challenge match at practice."

The Mavericks' second doubles team of KaLeigh Russenberger and Jennifer Hagen secured another point with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Joyce Rubio and Deanna Shellen.

The Rebels swept the singles bracket with Claire Christian claiming a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Kelci Russenberger at the No. 1 spot, while USC's Linsey Thisius downed Tori Russenberger, 6-2, 6-3, at second singles.

USC's Julia Stenzel effectively won the third singles match, beating Logan Weber 6-1, 6-1. Ali Wood completed the singles sweep and secured the team victory for the Rebels with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Megan Suter at the No. 4 position.

"We had some really great rallies and I'm really pleased with our strokes and the strategies we used. The wind created some problems for both sides, but today it they played well and we didn't get the bounces," said Bettin.

Veronica Schindler and Leah Meyer outlasted MCW's Ily Schlenk and Alisa Russenberger in a three-set third doubles match. Schlenk and Alisa Russenberger won the first set 6-3 with the help of strong net play.

The second set featured long rallies as the two teams battled it out for the set win. The Rebels won the second set 6-4 to send the match to a third set.

USC took an early 3-1 lead in the third set, but the Mavericks came back to tie it at 3-3. Both teams traded games back-and-forth until it was 6-6 and forced a tiebreaker.

The Rebels jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, before Schlenk and Alisa Russenberger won three points to make it 5-3. Schindler and Meyer won the next two points to win the final set, 7-6 (7-3).
