LaVon Kastner

ARMSTRONG - Mass of Christian Burial for LaVon Kastner, 81, of Winnebago will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Armstrong, with Father Sunny Dominic as celebrant. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Armstrong. There will be a vigil service 7 p.m. Wed-nesday at the church.

LaVon Ruth (Looft) Kastner, the daughter of Peter and Edna (Godfredson) Looft was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Burt, Iowa. LaVon passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at her home in Armstrong, Iowa, at the age of 81.

She received her education in the Armstrong schools.

On July 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald "Doc" Von Bank in Armstrong. LaVon worked at various jobs in the Armstrong and Ringsted area. Doc passed away Oct. 27, 1971.

LaVon moved to Blue Earth in 1972. She was employed with TELEX for numerous years until her retirement. On Nov. 15, 1980, she was united in marriage to Carl Kastner in Albert Lea, Minn. The couple made their home in Winnebago, Minn. After their retirement, they donated countless hours to the Treatment Center in Winnebago. Carl passed away May 23, 2009.

LaVon enjoyed sewing, crafts, cards, puzzles and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Armstrong and VFW Auxiliary in Blue Earth.

Left to cherish LaVon's memory are her children, Duyane (Joyce) Von Bank of Armstrong, Linda (Todd) Olson of St. James, Minn.; step-son, Greg (Tammy) Kastner of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Victoria (Corey) Carr, Rick (Krista) Von Bank, Jack (Jen) Von Bank, Ross Olson, Synnova Blackstad, Kelly Kastner, Adam (Danielle) Kastner, Sherry Kastner, Lori Kastner: great-grandchildren, Hallie, Jacob, Lauren, Vanesa, Olivia, Marriah and Ethan; sisters, Harriett Von Bank of Fairmont, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Selma and Doris; brother-in-law, Richard.

Preceding LaVon in death were her parents; both husbands; step-son, Gary; brothers, Verle, Kenneth and Donald; and sister, Elnora.
