To the Editor:
On Aug. 14, we, the citizens of Martin County, had a primary election. The particular area I'm from showed a dismal disregard for same. This breaks my heart and makes me wonder why this privilege is so ignored by so many.
There were no protesters at the polling place. No one had to worry about being shot at for using this way to legally voice our opinion on whom we want as leaders in our governing body - not just in this area but throughout our great nation.
Does no one understand what a privilege we have and of how many of our young men and women have died or been disabled to give us this right? We are the nation that has given blood and lives to help other countries have this very freedom. Do we not realize that if we don't give just a few minutes of our day to get out and vote, we also will be in line to lose this privilege.
In November, we have another election - I hope and pray that everyone realizes this will probably be one of the most important elections our country will every see, so get out and vote and show not just the state of Minnesota but the world that we are serious about who we the citizens of our great USA are and that we do value this privilege of choice. God bless the USA.
