Musicians coming home to fair stage

August 16, 2012

FAIRMONT - There will be a few familiar faces taking the stage tonight at the Martin County Fair when the pop-punk band "More Than Enough" plays.

Lead vocalist Tyler Jensen and bassist Josh Tesdahl both claim Fairmont as their hometown, graduating from Fairmont High School in 2004.

"We started playing together when we were 14, and have been doing it ever since," Jensen says.

A?LITTLE?MORE — The group “More Than Enough” consists of, from left, Kyle Dorn, Josh Tesdahl, Dallas Koopman and Tyler Jensen. Tesdahl and Jensen graduated from Fairmont High School in 2004.

The other two members rounding out the band are Kyle Dorn on guitar and drummer Dallas Koopman. The group formed in 2005, and relocated to Sioux Falls in 2008.

Jensen likens their sound to that of Green Day, a punk-pop style. While More Than Enough enjoys playing its own songs, for tonight's performance it will play some covers more familiar to people.

"We play some stuff from Blink 182 and Newfound Glory," Jensen said.

The band released its third album, "Don't Be a Shmav," earlier this month.

Most of the group's music is available through iTunes and other online venues. While the group doesn't have a record label, Jensen says they prefer it that way.

"We've been contacted by people, but we want to do it ourselves, record and play our own songs the way we want," he said.

Copies of the band's CDs will be available at tonight's show.

"We've played with some big bands, but not on a giant stage like at the fair," Jensen said. "It's exciting because we haven't played around Fairmont for about four years."

The band's performance is slated to begin at 8:30 p.m.
