Lights out at raceway create double features

August 14, 2012
Fairmont Sentinel

FAIRMONT - A supply line knocked out the lights at the Fairmont Raceway last Friday night, cutting the racing short and making this Friday's races a double feature night.

Both the hobby stocks and compacts class ran their heats and features, while the other divisions will finish the racing during Martin County Fair Week action in Fairmont.

Devin Smith was one of the two feature winners Friday, winning the hobby stocks race. Dan Wedel finished second in the feature after winning Heat 1.

Britten Swanson, the Heat 2 first-place finisher, placed fifth in the feature race.

Nate Coopman took home first-place honors in the compacts feature ahead of runner-up Mick Rykhus. Rykhus finished first in the compact class' only heat ahead of Coopman, who finished second.

Fairmont's Josh Meyer took home first place in Heat 3 of the modifieds. Josh Ruby and Travis Peterson also were heat winners, with the modified feature scheduled for this Friday.

Nick Meyer, Eric Kinnetz and Chad Krug were heat winners in the sports modifieds class last Friday. Their feature race will be run this Friday.

Fairmont's Dan Thate won Heat 1 of the stock cars, while Dan Mackenthun won Heat 2 before the lights went out.
