Ringnell reached first on a throwing error by the third baseman and then advanced on Alex Biehn's fielder's choice to third.

Another Lake Crystal error by the shortstop allowed Alex Saxen to reach first base and moved Ringnell to third and scored Fiala to tie the game.

"We were patient at the plate and got runners on and into postion. We were able to come through in the end, which was good," said Welcome/Sherburn coach Steven Zehms.

Biehn walked four and hit one to allow three Lake Crystal runs in the top of the first inning. Biehn went on to pitch the last six innings, giving up one run on four hits while striking out six.

"Alex struggled early on in the game today. He struggled early on yesterday, and I think he was just thinking about yesterday too much. Once he got out of it, he settled down and did a nice job," said Zehms.

W/S scored a run in the bottom of the third inning to close the gap to 3-1. Toby Haugen reached on a walk to start the inning, and moved to second on a wild pitch.

Austin Krumwiede walked to put runners on first and second and a bunt base hit by Mitch Sitzmann advanced the runners.

Fiala hit into a fielder's choice, with the shortstop putting out Sitzmann at second, but the play scored Haugen for the first W/S run.

Welcome/Sherburn added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth when Biehn and Saxen each walked. Biehn scored on a fielder's choice by Haugen, while Saxen scored on a passed ball to reduce their deficit to 4-3.

Kolten Backer pitched five innings for Lake Crystal, giving up one run on one hit and striking out two to take the no-decision. Chuck Menne came in for the final two innings of relief, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out one to take the loss.
