LAKOTA, Iowa - Services for Robert A. Stewart, 87, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday July 11, 2012, at The Eagle Center in Lakota. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10, from 5-8 p.m. at Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center.

Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert Alanson Stewart, age 87, died peacefully on July 6, 2012, in the Hospice of the Heartland of the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, Iowa.

He was born on May 26, 1925, to John Ross Stewart and Sarah Elizabeth Lyon in Pilot Grove Township, Elmore, Minn. He lived and farmed in the Elmore area for several years after graduating from Elmore High School in 1942.

On July 8, 1946, he married Lorraine Sleper. To this union, three children were born:?Andrea, Robert and Alanson. Throughout his work life, he was a line foreman for Gerring Industries, a carpenter for Nordaas American and Green Giant all the while pursuing his love of being a steward of the land through farming. Upon retiring from farming in 1984, Bob and Lorraine moved to the Twin Cities and were property managers of condominium complexes.

Bob enjoyed reading, bird watching, nature, hunting, fishing and gardening all the while enjoying his time with many family members and friends. Bob enjoyed sharing thoughts of our Lord and was a humble servant of God until the end.

He is survived and loved by his wife Lorraine; daughter, Andrea Silfverston of Laughlin, Nev.; sons, Robert Dean (Pat) of Jackson, Minn., and Alanson (Susan) of Lakeville, Minn.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Elaine Elizabeth Hoppe; brothers, John C. Stewart, Jr. and Kenneth J. Stewart; sister-in-law, Eleanor Stewart; as well as a host of family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; step-mother; brother Harry; mother and father-in-law Everett and Andrea Sleper; two sister-in-laws; and three brother-in-laws.
