To the Editor:
I am saddened greatly by the passing of a Fairmont treasure of a man, Ray Stougaard. When I was a young dreamer and writer, with an eye on a journalism career, Ray encouraged me with his wisdom, energy and old-time journalistic spirit that defines a community. He was a true newspaper man.
We're missing something in the computer age. Maybe it's the world's news coming in from every possible source so relentlessly. There's nothing like a broadsheet in print. A newspaper to spill your coffee on and read over breakfast. A living history of the local community.
My sympathies to the Stougaard family and friends. Long live the Sentinel and newspapers everywhere.
