BANCROFT, Iowa - Sawyer Doocy went a combined 6-for-7 with seven RBIs and seven runs scored to power the North Union Warriors to a Corn Belt Conference baseball doubleheader sweep of the Clay Central-Everly Mavericks on Monday night in Everly, Iowa.
Doocy went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and scored three times during the Warriors' opening 17-4, five-inning triumph.
Doocy then pounded a home run and two doubles in three official at-bats to generate four RBIs and four runs scored to trigger a 19-2, six-inning rout in Game 2.
Evan Hagebock went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored to pack punch to the Warriors' 12-hit effort in Game 1.
North Union teammate Jake Adams went 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored and one RBI. Adams also doubled.
Brett Thackery doubled, drew two walks, scored twice and collected one RBI in the opening victory, while teammate Alex Deitering added a two-run single.
Cody Runksmeier allowed four runs - two earned - on six hits, struck out six and walked two pitching the five-inning distance to earn the Game 1 victory.
Hagebock, Adams and Brett Deitering each produced two hits for the Warriors during Game 2.
Hagebock doubled twice to drive in four runs and also crossed the plate three times, Deitering tripled and singled en route to four runs scored, while Adams added one RBI and scored once.
Zack Hurlburt gave up two runs on five hits, struck out two and walked three in four innings of work to earn the victory.
Garrett Johnson and Hagebock each pitched one scoreless inning of one-hit relief.
Johnson fanned one and walked one, while Hagebock struck out two without a base-on-balls.
North Union (13-3) plays host to Okoboji on Thursday in Bancroft, Iowa.
