Stamping out hunger

May 23, 2012
Fairmont Sentinel

To the Editor:

What generosity was shown during the Stamp Out Hunger food drive coordinated by the Fairmont post office earlier this month. Community members donated many bags of non-perishable food; letter carriers picked up the bags; and post office employees and their helpers loaded the bags for transport to the food shelf at The Salvation Army.

These donations will be used to provide food boxes to the 300 to 400 or more Martin County residents per month who turn to The Salvation Army for food assistance.

We are so thankful for those who delivered care for the less fortunate in this community by participating in the food drive. Thanks to the generosity of local donors in this caring community, The Salvation Army continues to help meet needs.
