Students learned a lot

May 19, 2012

To the Editor:

Martin County Historical Society held its historic "Walking Tour" for Martin County fifth-graders this week. We are fortunate and thankful that for the second year we were able to utilize the excellent facilities at Heritage Acres. This superb historic venue, coupled with the willingness and abilities of those talented individuals portraying the many historical figures from Martin County's past, served to provide these young people with a realistic glimpse of our heritage. In addition to educating students in a meaningful and interesting way regarding Martin County's history, we made students aware of the important role our ancestors have played in the development of Martin County and our current society.

Thanks to Heritage Acres and the volunteers who helped make this event a huge success.
