To the Editor:
I am writing this letter in regard to the recent article in the Sentinel about this year's Triple A award winners.
First of all, I want to congratulate all of the winners from Martin County. We are truly proud of you and wish you well in all of your future endeavors.
Throughout the years, I have read several times a week about our area sports teams. They rightfully get much attention in the paper for the joy, entertainment and pride they bring to our county.
I would like to see those who excel in academics, the arts and athletics to get at least their fair share of recognition in the Sentinel, for they too bring joy, entertainment and pride to our county.
I respectfully disagree with the editor's decision to fully acknowledge Fairmont's students, with their accomplishments listed, while the rest of the area winners only received one line of type. I can understand where it might be too much to put in one edition, but you could do it in installments as you have in previous years.
I'm sure that the Sentinel has subscribers from the areas of Truman, Martin County West, Martin Luther, Blue Earth and Granada-Huntley-East Chain. So why would the editor choose to not give those area students as much coverage? In my opinion, they deserve better.
