ARMSTRONG, Iowa - Services for Arden W. Jongberg, 90, of Armstrong will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel, Armstrong. The Rev. Van Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Arden Walter Jongberg, the son of John and Maude (Thackery) Jongberg, was born April 24, 1921, in Armstrong, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong at the age of 90.
He graduated from Armstrong High School. After graduation from high school, Arden served in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from military service, Arden returned to the Armstrong area.
On Feb. 21, 1947, Arden was united in marriage to Phyllis Elsie Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in rural Armstrong and lived on an acreage and in the same house for 61 years, where Arden farmed and was also employed with the ASCS in Algona, Iowa.
Arden was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Swea City. He was also a member of Weiby-Johnson VFW Post in Armstrong.
Left to cherish Arden's memory are his wife of 64 years, Phyllis of Armstrong and a host of many friends.
Preceding Arden in death were his parents and one brother, Ellis Jongberg.
