Humane Society grateful

January 19, 2012

To the Editor:

The Martin County Humane Society would like to express its sincerest thank you to everyone who supported the Carl Nettifee Memorial Animal Shelter during 2011.

To all of you who gave your financial support, you are the backbone that keeps our shelter strong. To all of you who donated supplies for our everyday use, we thank you for your kindness. To the city of Fairmont and to Martin County, we thank you for your continued support. To the shelter employees, the care you give the animals is as good as and maybe better than what you do for your own pets. To all of our fabulous volunteers and foster parents, the time you give us is priceless and we could not operate without you.

During 2011, Martin County Humane Society cared for 653 stray or surrendered animals. We are proud to say most of the animals found new homes. The support we received during the year made that possible.

And with a new year, comes new goals. Fund-raisers are a vital source of income for us. Our annual Rose Sale has started. We are taking orders for roses to be delivered on Feb. 13, with pickup at the shelter on from 4-7 p.m. Feb. 13 and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Feb. 14. Again, this year, a dozen roses will sell for $20. We have several people taking orders and the public can also call the shelter at (507) 238-1885 or you can stop in. All orders will need to be prepaid.

Again, thank you for all you do for the animals.
