To the Editor:
On a recent Saturday, I was visited by several people representing two local groups, Dude Salute and Beyond the Yellow Ribbon. They came by to say thank you for our son's service. He is currently deployed with the Marines in Afghanistan. They brought us several gifts, material things we really appreciated and that will be shared with our daughter-in-law and grandchildren when they arrive here from California next week.
But their visit brought us far more than the packages they carried in the door. The fact there are people out there who honestly care about and support our military and their families is something that is priceless. I cannot begin to express my appreciation for their thoughts, words of encouragement and prayers.
I e-mailed our son in Afghanistan and he thought that was one of the best things he has heard of, he described it as "really cool."
If you see members of either group, please thank them for what they are doing, it means a lot to us.
