TRUMAN - A Celebration of Life for Nellie "Nell" Flohrs, 91, of Truman, formerly of rural Trimont, Minn., will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Galena Township, rural Ormsby, Minn., with Rev. Roger L. Mackie officiating.

Burial will be in the Church Cemetery in rural Ormsby, Minn.

Nell died on Wednesday morning, March 17, 2010, at Truman Senior Living in Truman, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Nellie Elizabeth Wohlenhaus was born on March 10, 1919, to Emil and Ella (Sothman) Wohlenhaus in Cass County, Nobel Township, Iowa. At the age of 4, her family moved to a farm north of Welcome. She attended school in Welcome until 1933, when they moved to a farm near Ormsby, where she attended and later graduated from 8th grade from rural school district #126. She was baptized and confirmed on March 15, 1940, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Galena Township. Nell was employed for various farm families in the area, especially Ray and Babe Mueller Family. On Jan. 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Flohrs at Immanuel Lutheran Church Parsonage in Galena Township, rural Ormsby, Minn. After their marriage, they lived and farmed on the Flohrs family farm in rural Trimont until their retirement in 1983, moving to Truman. In 2005, Nell became a resident of Truman Assisted Living. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she belonged to its Ladies Aid, Mother's Club, quilting for World Relief, taught Sunday School and was in the Church Choir. Nell also belonged to the Garden Club, Farm Bureau and Travelog. Nellie was an avid quilter, always sewing and doing crafts, also loved her flowers and gardening and painting. They just recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, LeRoy Flohrs of Truman, Minn.; her children, Phyllis (Wallace) Richter of Mankato, Lynn Flohrs of Fairmont, Ralph (Cindi) Flohrs of Sioux Falls, S.D., Ted Flohrs of Forest Lake, Minn., Becky (Larry) Tapper of North Mankato and Kim (Laura) Flohrs of rural Trimont; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Russell of Gladstone, Oregon, Marcella (Glen) Sawyer of Mora, Minn., Della (Uyrel) Dicking of Brazil, Indiana; brothers-in-law, George Dworshak of Albuquerque, N.M., Oren (Rae) Flohrs of rural Ormsby; sisters-in-law, Hazel Flohrs of Trimont and Ilene Wohlenhaus of Mora; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Nell is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Alice Wohlenhaus; daughter, Sharon Flohrs; granddaughter, Amy Harvey Flohrs; great-granddaughter, Angelina Voltin-Tapper; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Flohrs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Stanley Flohrs, Maxine and Bev Flohrs; sister, Jerry Dworshak; brother, Tom Wohlenhaus and other relatives and friends.
