To the Editor:
On behalf of the international speakers who came to Fairmont earlier this week under the auspices of the Minnesota International Center, I would like to thank the citizens of Fairmont for their warm and generous hospitality. The international speakers could not speak highly enough of the students at Five Lakes Elementary and Fairmont Junior/Senior High.
They were delighted by the range of questions they encountered, the interest expressed in their countries and cultures, and the level of participation from the youngest to the most senior of the students.
The members of the Rose Ensemble who performed for the students at Fairmont Junior/Senior High found the students to be the most engaged of any for whom they have performed during their education programs. Fairmont, your students are a credit to you.
Our appreciation also goes to Eric Johnson, local coordinator for the event, the principals and teachers of the schools without whose efforts and cooperation these events would not be possible.
The Minnesota International Center has been bringing international speakers to Fairmont for the past 13 years and hopes to be able to continue this program for at least another 13 years.
