TRIMONT - Trimont Area Women is preparing for its biggest fund-raising event of the year: the Tour of Tables.
"Most of the money we raise goes to a senior scholarship," explained Cara Sinn of Trimont Area Women. "But whenever a local benefit asks for donations, we like to try and help."
Trimont Area Women meets about once per month, according to Sinn.
"We actually changed from the 'Trimont Women of Today,' to 'Trimont Area Women,' in order to attract more members," she said. "We'd welcome members from Sherburn, Welcome, even Fairmont."
While the Tour of Tables is the Trimont Area Women's big fund-raiser of the year, the group also is involved with garage sales in the spring and the annual Easter egg hunt. Last year, it also sponsored "The Great Chocolate Race" as part of the Trimont Chocolate Festival.
"We also try to help the schools," Sinn said. "We ask if there's a wish list for the schools, and last year the teachers posted a wish list at conferences ... We've also helped with playground equipment in the past, and we do a hat and mitten collection for the schools for children who don't have any."
The third annual Tour of Tables is scheduled for Nov. 22 at Trimont Covenant Church. Viewings of tables will be from 9-10:30 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
"So far, we have themes along the lines of 'afternoon tea party,' and 'The Nutcracker,'" Sinn said.
Last year, themes ranged from Coca-Cola to "A Moment In Time."
At 10:30, attendants will hear guest speaker Gaye Hanson of Savage. Hanson is a national speaker and is described as "a master encourager." The theme of Hanson's presentation will be "Ignite Your Life."
Entertainment this year will be provided by four Martin County West girls who call themselves the "Winter Wonderettes." Attendants also will be able to enter a raffle drawing for a fall-themed quilt created by some of the Trimont Area Women.
