NEW ULM — New Ulm Jr. Legion pocketed a doubleheader sweep of Fairmont VFW Post 1222 on Sunday in New Ulm.
Fairmont also ended up salvaging a split with Lake Crystal on Saturday at Cardinal Park in Fairmont.
New Ulm scored a 5-4 win in Game 1 over Fairmont.
Max Waletich batted at a 3-for-4 clip with an RBI, while Conner Guetter was 2-for-3 and Joey Fitzgerald collected a 2-for-4 contest for Fairmont. Jon Ellis, Tyler Beck and Logan Peymann added single hits.
Fitzgerald allowed three earned runs on five hits in 4.2 innings of work. He walked four and struck out one. Jordan Petschke allowed one hit in 1.1 innings of relief.
New Ulm picked up a 14-3 win in Game 2.
Peymann batted at a 3-for-3 clip with two runs scored and an RBI, while Guetter, Petschke and Waletich each added single hits.
Petschke allowed five earned runs in three innings. He struck out four and walked one. Waletich gave up seven earned runs on seven hits in one inning. He walked two batters.
On Saturday, Fairmont claimed Game 1 against Lake Crystal by a 12-5 margin.
Peymann batted 3-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI and a triple. Joey Duflo was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Guetter added a 2-for-3 effort with two runs scored and drove in three runs. Fitzgerald, Beck and Justin Heinrich were each 2-for-3 at the plate.
Lake Crystal earned a 7-5 win in Game 2.
Duflo batted 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Guetter was 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs. Jon Ellis, D.J. Moeller and Heinrich chalked up one hit apiece for Fairmont.
Heinrich allowed two earned runs on five hits in 2.2 innings of work. He struck out one and walked four. Ellis gave up four earned runs on six hits in 3.1 frames with three strikeouts. Duflo pitched the final inning.
Fairmont (8-5) plays host to Blue Earth at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cardinal Park in Fairmont.
