ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — St. Paul police say neighbors came to the aid of a woman who fled naked from the apartment of a registered sex offender now charged with beating and sexually assaulting her.

Ramsey County prosecutors have charged 53-year-old Michael D. Burns with criminal sexual conduct, terroristic threats and domestic assault by strangulation. A criminal complaint says Burns punched the woman in the face and choked her until she passed out.
The woman told police Burns had been stealing her Social Security checks.
