ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren whipped up the crowd at a campaign event for Sen. Al Franken.
Franken's re-election campaign is making a pitch for volunteers, and Warren is popular with the Democratic base. Minnesota Public Radio reports (http://bit.ly/1jMxbUq ) she reached out to the crowd at Macalester College in St. Paul on Saturday by stressing issues such as economic inequality, global warming and unions.
Warren told them she's "not going to whimper about what the Republicans are up to" in Washington. She said she's going to fight back, and wants Franken beside her in that fight.
Franken won his Senate seat in 2008 by just 312 votes following a long recount process. Democrats worry they could lose seats in Congress in the upcoming elections as a result of low voter turnout.
