MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minneapolis man who is among 14 people injured in an explosion and fire describes his frightening escape from the burning building.
Seventy-four-year-old Adani Ali was asleep in his second-floor apartment Wednesday morning when the building was rocked by the explosion. Ali says he rushed to the door, opened it and saw fire and parts of the ceiling crashing down in the hallway. He could hear windows exploding.
Ali tells the Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1cnUuwW ) he grabbed his overcoat and joined two or three others who were trying to escape. They encountered more flames as they went down a stairway and finally made it out to the street in the subzero cold. Ali, in his bare feet, says he watched as other residents jumped from the third floor to the pavement below.
