MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities say a Minnesota man accused of killing a doctor appears to have been angry over his treatment of a family member.
But they are giving few other details on what led to the death of Dr. Stephen Larson on Friday at his home in Orono, an upscale Minneapolis suburb. A 30-year-old man, Ted Hoffstrom, was shot to death in a confrontation with police outside Larson's home.
Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek says Hoffstrom's mother was once one of Larson's patients. Stanek says the investigation is continuing.
Stanek says the 74-year-old Larson was home alone when he was shot multiple times. He says Larson had been talking on the phone when he answered the door, and the person on the other end of the call heard noises and called 911.
