COLOGNE, Minn. (AP) — A funeral will held in Minnesota for the oldest finisher at this year's New York City Marathon.

Eighty-six-year-old Joy Johnson died the day after finishing her 25th New York City Marathon and hours after appearing on the "Today" show. She had hit her head on the pavement during the marathon but refused to quit Sunday.

She lay down on her hotel bed and never woke up Monday. She died of complications of blunt trauma.

The Star Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/179i5gt ) her childhood home was in Cologne, Minn.

Johnson was a gym teacher in Duluth before moving to California, but kept close ties to Minnesota and returned for running events. Her last recorded finish in the Grandma's Marathon in Duluth was in 2011.

Funeral arrangements by a Waconia funeral home are pending.
