Well, for me, the Ranch needs some good stiff competition: good food, casual, a range of options, not expensive. Good Italian wouldn't be a bad choice. Seafood can be an option, if done right. There are other options, but those three spring immediately to mind.

The people of fairmont think good food is the olive garden and applebees. That will never change, a bunch of money will be spent to open another restaurant the eda will have invested in poorly. I wish them the best of luck and hopefully they prosper.

Not sure what kind of restaurant would survive in Fairmont unless it's a chain we have several family owned or locally owned restaurants. WE have a good steak/seafood house, pizza places and other cuisine. Only thing we are lacking is a nice Italian restaurant.

Another place on the lake to dock a boat and have a beer and burger would be great. Casual type atmosphere that allows a person to enter with a shorts and t-shirt. Maybe section a peice of the restaurant off for that.

use to be in the house band for the fireside lounge, Jon Franck always treated me good but service and quality did begin to suffer after awhile. i do hope that it offers something different than what we already have. we don't need another pizza place, or another burger joint, or another sports bar.

The prices were high, the food was mediocre, and the service was terrible. Aside from that, there wasn't much wrong with the place.

My roommate and I went there twice. The second time was to make sure the first wasn't a fluke. After that, we agreed that there was no need for a third time.

I hope the new folks succeed. This town could use another good restaurant.

Level the place. Start over.

""If something doesn't happen soon it will just be a lot," said Gene Tonne, EDA chairman."

Now he is a "book of knowledge", bailing from *a company located west of Fairmont* before the recession...
