I would do more to support and recognize farmers if they did more to limit erosion, pollution, plant fewer GM seeds for harvest, and use fewer antibiotics and steroids on livestock.

The Ag. Industry has become a Chem-industry... Companies like Monsanto have created such a monopoly that a large percentage of USDA employee's are former Monsanto employee's. The pesticides, herbicides, GMO's are created to produce more, bigger, longer shelf life foods. Corn syrup is one of the worst things you should consume, corn starch, and many corn based products are in everyday items... and they truly are not good for consumption. Grow your own, learn to can, and enjoy the real tastes of fresh produce.

Unfortunately I have to disagree I really don't think a lot of people know where there food comes from. For example my cousin who has 2 uncles that are hog and grain farmers and she lives in town, said that she wouldn't think of eating pork as she ate a ham sandwich and bacon wrapped wennies. People are so far removed from agrictulture and it is very sad agriculture is the backbone of America. I am proud to say I grew up on a farm and do raise my own livestock today. Growing up on a farm has help make me the person I am today and I wouldn't trade that for the world. I also disagree corn is not the reason that groceries are so high priced, all groceries are higher not just the ones that come from corn or take corn to get ie milk, bread, cheese and on and on. Everything is higher not just our groceries.

I think most people are aware of where our food comes from as groceries have gotten so high due to the high price of corn. I think twice before I put something in my cart.
