With increased traffic and with needed improvements and repair to existing infrastructure, there is a need for increased revenue. I would be supportive of a couple of cents if there were more road and bridge repairs.

If there is concern about golf carts or 4-wheelers on public streets in towns, the proper place to get this addressed is with state lawmakers. The law currently allows towns to trump state law on this issue within their city limit borders. That provision can easily be changed if lawmakers see dangers. One might want to check accident statistics in such towns to see if there have been any issues. Most accidents with such vehicles that I've heard about were not on city streets.
