I grew up in Blue Earth and moved to the cities right after graduation. I knew the grass was greener on the other side. After living in the cities for over 30 years I miss the small town world. All my fond memories are from that time in my life where things were simple and real. It is sad to see the local icons disappearing. The sense of community and "family". A great day was having breakfast at the local cafe with dad or grandpa then throwing in a line at Fox Lake. I have eaten at that cafe and loved hearing all the stories told by the locals and loved the home town cooking. You have a hard time finding that anywhere any more. Gourmet is good but home cooking is the best. How does the saying go? Keep it simple stupid. We need to keep places like this open and try to regain that sense of community that we are all lacking. I would hate to see the newer and future generations never experience this. Family and community are by far worth the investment.

I'd like to see Fairmont do something like this with some empty buildings. A nice coffee shop would be great!

I've just recently returned to the Sherburn area after being gone for over 20 years....and I'm so, so proud of our community. We've saved our Movie Theater, we're working to make our kids safer in MCW and now, we are trying to save our cafe...can't say small town spirit is dead in Sherburn!!!! This is one of the main reasons we wanted to come back....living in large cities is fun, but, your never going to get the sense of community as living in a small town and that's what we wanted to instill in our kids. Good luck to whoever gets this and know that you'll have the whole community behind you.

Give me the cafe. Nobody cares about this community more than I do.
