I knew this would happen some day

June 25, 2012 - Kylie Saari
When I was a teenager I just had to be different.

Rebelling against my peers, I listened only to KOOL108 on the radio. At the time, it was an oldies station. In what I thought was interesting and unique, I blasted the Mamas and Papas, the Beatles, and Chubby Checker from my car stereo. I secretly thought if I ever got pulled over (which I never did), the police would be charmed by my musical choices, so refreshingly wholesome and — you got it — different — from my what the other kids listened they wouldn't give me a ticket.

Secretly, my favorite music was Guns and Roses, Aerosmith, and Pearl Jam.

Eventually I got over myself and started listening to a wider range of music.

So imagine my horror, when on a recent trip to the cities, I was flipping through radio stations and heard an Aerosmith song popular when I was in high school. I turned it up, belted it out, and when it was over came the terrible, horrible, no good news.

I was, once again, listening to the oldies station.

But they weren't playing oldies. They couldn't be playing oldies. That song wasn't old... right? It must have been a mistake. It had to be.
