| | Paying the priceMay 18, 2012 - Jodelle GreinerI was cleaning out some stuff the other day and ran across some old People magazines from September and October 1984. The price on the cover was $1.25. The current issue is marked $3.99. In that September issue was an article about Bruce Springsteen. A reporter was following him around on his concert tour to promote “Born in the U.S.A.” “Some of the blue collars in the $14 seats behind the stage (all tickets are $14 or $15) unfurl American flags,” wrote Chet Flippo. Do you have any idea what tickets to see The Boss cost now? I bet a lot more than $14 or $15. The other thing I noticed? Ads for cigarettes. There was one for Salem Menthol Fresh cigarettes with a bunch of very buff young men and women playing tug-of-war in a lake. How do you smoke a cigarette while you’re doing that?
