Pizza, cats and preppers ...
April 18, 2012 - Lee Smith
I was enjoying a pizza the other night when my squirrelly cat Farmer put his front paws up on the table and stared alternately at my plate and then at me, implying, “What have you got there and can’t you see I’d like to smell it?”
As I scowled at him, I got to thinking how little cats have contributed to world cuisine. Their top project? Dead mouse.
When it comes right down to it, putting together a pizza is not exactly rocket science, yet humans have so outdistanced other critters in terms of “making dinner” that we should give ourselves a pat on the back. Farmer gets a pat on the head, but he and his kin still owe the rest of us.
As this was happening, a commercial came on TV for that show where the people hoard food and supplies in case the world comes to an end. “Doomsday Preppers” Is that it? Anyway, if things get so bad in society or around the globe that commerce breaks down and we have to rely on stuff we have stored and canned, we’re probably not going to want to live in that world. It will be very dirty, ugly and smelly.
But I will say this: All you nice, wonderful doomsday preppers are very kind to be building up that bank of food, etc., for the rest of us, who definitely will be coming to your home if and when all hell breaks loose. Sorry, but you stored it.
