Whereas winter drags on forever (and EVER it was seeming like this year), I am already seeing our summer schedule picking up steam and getting filled. Between T-Ball and swimming lessons, day camps and summer preschool for the children, plus numerous "remotes" that take my husband on the road for his job between now and the end of July, we have to plan carefully on what times we can actually take for ourselves. Will we be able to hit the Fourth of July family gathering in Wisconsin? What about the annual trek to the Black Hills? Can we get U2 concert tickets AND a sitter for our anniversary?! Is there another school board conference week this summer? Plus we need to get going on the numerous home improvement projects that are always being neglected. And we can't forget Fair Week. And then... Fall sports season and school start up again. Why do I do this to myself? Fitting all this into summer around my full-time job and no wonder I'm left feeling gypped. One summer day preview, and I am already feeling my life go onto fast-forward. Maybe I should just let some of this go, let our relatives know the Interstate goes both ways and they can come see us. We might even have our home improvement projects done by the time they get there. Just be wary of any wet paint or sawdust - we may have literally just finished when you pulled in the driveway!
