Adults have their joys too

June 22, 2010 - Lee Smith

Kids have all kinds of joys small and large, it seems to me. Maybe it's just the fact that kids get so excited about things that adults no longer really care about. Maybe it's the fact kids don't have adult responsibilities.

Adults, on the other hand, probably experience joys deeper and more fulfilling than kids. And we have milestones we'll always remember. First car, first paycheck, getting married, buying that first home, having children, etc.

And then there's the stuff you never imagine. Like getting a new roof ... seriously.

We had a great crew of guys come out from Chad Lutterman Construction recently to reshingle our place. Knowing you need a new roof for several years is something that kind of hangs over you. To have it complete, to have it looking so nice really is a relief and joy. It's also nice to know that it will probably be 20 years or more before we have to even think about it again.

I know. It's only a roof. No kid out there could possibly be enthused. But still.
