| | Working togetherJanuary 27, 2010 - Kylie SaariSo often buildings sit empty or new ones go up when better suited land is nearby. Sometimes it seems like groups are so insulated from each other tax payers end up getting the short end of the stick. So I was pleased to see the city and school district work together on the William Budd location. Granted, there are still students at Budd, but it is no secret the district has to do something with it. The city even took the location off of their drawing board in 2007 when voters turned the renovation down. But upon noticing that the district was considering trying again, they came back to work out the details. Having a buyer lined up is a great relief for the district, although technically tax payers will buy it either way. The Budd School location will save taxpayers money due to its location, so it really is a win-win situation. I am hopeful voters will seriously consider passing a referendum for the project to continue. I can't afford much more in taxes, and the longer we wait, the higher the impact will be. As far as paying for this project, it seems to be a matter of paying for the bad before it gets worse.
