tree disasters, 2 & 1/2 (AKA - Fatty Can't Limbo)

December 14, 2009 - Jennifer Brookens
Still three cats, two kids and one Christmas tree.

Times tipped or fallen since last Monday: zero (YAY!)

Branches bumped off/missing: five (all bottom row). Number of times bumped off: stopped keeping track.

Number ornaments damaged/destroyed: uncertain

The tree is balanced, and I even managed to get some lights on it (though the Boy and cats did their best to defeat me there). Kitties still think this tree is their personal scratching post/toy dangler. There has been some damage to the lower-level ornaments (SHHH! Don't let the Girl know!) and the bottom row of branches look to be off kilter for the season. Mainly because Fatty cat can't limbo like he thinks he can.

Trying to maintain his cat-like grace and elegance, he still tries to crouch down as he swiftly makes his way around the Christmas tree, sneaking up on the jingle-bell security system or pouncing on one of the other kitties. But instead of a cat-like sleekness, all the branches he ducks under just get bounced out of their sockets - bump! bump! bump! As we chuckle at him, he gives us a look that says, "Oh yeah, like you can do better." (And it's true, we can't).

But as long as the tree is still up, and there's no health/fire dangers, I'm not fretting too much. Until those cats start playing chase-tag around the tree.

Have we mentioned that there's no presents underneath there yet? As I mentioned, three cats, two kids. 'Nuff said.
