Farmfest

Here I sit, under a massive tent filled with chairs surrounding a huge stage. Unusually beautiful weather surrounds and speakers are blaring gospel music with a country twang four middle-aged men are belting out on stage. It is Farmfest! I know you are surprised to find how much this city girl enjoys this unreserved display of all things farming and its associated stereotypes, but this is much like the state fair without the bazaar and deep-fried Twinkies. Soon I will listen to democratic congresspersons give an update on the industry, which I will duly relate to you. For the next three days, I will be your eyes and ears here in Gilfillan, Minn. Hang on and listen carefully, agriculture makes things move here.
