Friends of Education

Education Minnesota Fairmont, the local teacher's union, recently announced their annual Friends of Education for 2009. You will have to watch the paper for more on who it is, but it is their dedication I want to address here. The couple I interviewed are totally devoted to helping kids succeed academically. Early mornings, late nights, weekends — all while they both hold down "real" jobs and care for a grandchild on Fridays. It is clear to me, an outsider, where their passion lies. It made me step back and consider, what would someone think I am passionate about if observed from a distance? It is a question I think we could all do well to consider.
