| | A glimpse of sunlightJanuary 20, 2009 - Jennifer BrookensIt was just another Tuesday in January today... Nothing spectacular in my immediate routine. I covered a meeting, arranged interviews for later in the week, and worried about when the overdraft notices would start arriving in my mailbox. But I wasn't as heavy-hearted today as I'd been recently, and it wasn't until about halfway through the day when I realized why. "Is it me, or is this the first time the sun has shone like this for awhile," I asked one of my co-workers. "It must be, since I can't even remember when the last time was," she agreed. There are still snowpiles blocking the view on nearly every corner, but the temperature was in the lower 30s and I saw blue sky and bare blacktop through the melting ice and snow. Not a lot of melting, but enough of a path where I could drive without worrying about fishtailing if I made any sudden movements. I know we're still in the thick of winter. We still have more months of snowstorms and cold to fight through. But just that glimpse of sunshine outside without a brutal chill factor just seemed to make all the difference for my mindset today. Amazing what a little glimpse of hope can do. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
