Holiday Hopes

After a year where I stopped counting the bad times, the season has sprung up unexpectedly. After an unsuccessful weekend of attempting Christmas cheer, I backed off, letting myself off the hook, and while at this point I am just happy to have gotten through the year with my family safe and healthy, I find myself looking forward to Christmas. Not the meal and lights and music. Not the presents and cookies. Just a quiet day to spend with my kids and husband remembering that through bad times, good was there too. Partially obscured, it has carried us through.
