March 27, 2013 - Jennifer Brookens
There's a reason Wednesday's are called 'hump days,' as in getting over the hump. But I'm having a hard time reaching that top of the hill today.

The end of the month, especially the end of the week at the end of the month, is usually a tough week on reporters. Most of our meetings are done, and there is usually not much else going on until the beginning of the next month. This week is especially tough with the Holy Week holidays.

I got another degree of difficulty tossed my way this morning when I turned the key to my minivan (with only a few payments away from being paid off) and nothing happened. The dashboard lights came on, but other than that, silence. Yikes! And I still had to get The Boy and The Girl to school on time. Deep breath, try again. And again. The third time it started with a little protest. But it was started. Needless to say, I kept the van running the whole time until I got to the auto shop. Naturally, I tried to demonstrate, and it turned over just fine. But they agreed to look at it for me, which also means that until it can be determined if it's a fading starter, or just a loose cable, I'm stuck without transportation. And wondering just how much new starters cost, and if there's enough room on the credit card for it.

Guess if I want to get anyplace today, it's going to be a brisk walk. All bundled up - still stuck in winter, too.

Can someone please hit the fast-forward button to Memorial Day weekend?!
