Anti-gun crowd could not wait to be wrong

An evil person bent on doing harm will do so, whether he must use a vehicle, a knife or any of the myriad other weapons available besides a firearm. In fact, Somalia native Abdul Razak Ali Artan, a legal permanent U.S. resident, needed only his car and a butcher knife to send 11 people to hospitals in an attack on Ohio State University’s campus Monday.

One could almost hear the disappointment in the silence following the social media posts of the gun-control fanatics who had hoped to be able to give an I-told-you-so, while smugly politicizing the tragedy.

To be fair, the confusion began when Ohio State officials issued an announcement that an active shooter was on campus. Investigators believe they likely heard the shots fired by Officer Alan Horujko of the university police force when he saved many lives by taking out the suspect. Reports that the assailant was a gunman persisted for some time.

There is no place for the gleeful screeching from the extreme left that followed. Before the facts were known, Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts crowed, “Other nations protect their students. America gives dangerous people guns and ask students to defend themselves. God help us.” She later reposted the message, minus the “God help us.”

Others taunted, “@NRA you guys happy yet?”

Former vice-presidential candidate Tim Kaine said he was “deeply saddened by the senseless act of gun violence,” when, again, the only gun used was the one that stopped the shooter.

And one confused soul wailed, “Good guys with guns don’t stop bad guys” — when, in fact, that is precisely what happened.

All of this collective jumping-on occurred before noon on that day. They simply could not wait to pounce on a crisis they thought would serve their message. While it is tempting to say these folks should be ashamed of themselves, the truth is painfully clear: When it comes to their agenda, they have no shame.
