Band offers its thanks

To the Editor:

From July 2-11, 106 members of the Fairmont Cardinals marching band, along with 12 adults, traveled to represent the community of Fairmont in California. We cannot tell you how proud we were to do so. We marched with dignity and pride at the 70th Annual Coronado Fourth of July Parade outside of San Diego, and again on July 8 at Disneyland, where we were the featured non-professional entertainment of the day. What a thrill.

While in California, we not only had the opportunity to march, but to tour many attractions, including Seaport Village, Sea World, Old Town San Diego, the U.S.S. Midway and the San Diego Zoo, all in the San Diego area. And, we explored the Santa Monica Beach, Hollywood Boulevard, the Getty Art Museum, the La Brea Tar Pits, Angels Stadium and more in the Los Angeles area.

All of this was done with our incredible chaperones. We had the most incredible surrogate parents for our 10-day trip: Marlys Brummond, Pam Gerken, Tara Haugen, Corey Klanderud, Doug Hoffmann, Kim Breamer, Amy Head, Naomi and Todd Segar, and Christi and Kyle Redenius. They kept us healthy, safe and happy.

We would like to thank the community of Fairmont for its support toward this incredible opportunity. Your continued presence at our many performances, your ongoing financial gifts, including donations and purchasing of fundraising items, is not left unnoticed. This trip to California was made possible by you, and done in honor of you.

With thanks.
