Service projects sought

To the Editor:

Fairmont Jr./Sr. High School Cardinal Connections groups are looking for service projects to tackle in the Fairmont community for our Community Service Project Day on Friday, May 18 (rain date is May 25).

There are 46 Cardinal Connections groups with an average of 19 students (grades 7-12) per group looking to help others in our community. Some of the projects our groups have worked on in the past for individuals are yard work; landscaping; garage or basement cleanout; window washing; and basic home improvements. Some other projects included: cleaning the downtown area, cleaning city parks, going to nursing homes to spend time with the residents, going to the Humane Society and helping at local businesses.

If you are an individual or a business that has a need for some extra hands this spring, please consider filling out an application for a service project. The application can be found in the school’s website at www.fairmont.k12.mn.us then click on Fairmont Jr/Sr High School, click on For Parents, click on Community Service Day, and then finally click on application. Applications also are available at the Fairmont Jr./Sr. High School office. All applications are due by May 1.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the service project by emailing me at cengelby@fairmont.k12.mn.us or leaving a voice mail at (507) 235-4164.
