Be the blessing for others

Be the blessing for others

To the Editor:

Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit organization with the mission to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the United States and to feed starving children throughout the world. Since its launch, Kids Against Hunger has provided over 1 billion meals for children and their families in more than 60 countries. This large endeavor has been made possible through the countless volunteers and donations committed to ending world hunger.

Through the years, Martin County has contributed to the Kids Against Hunger mission through our annual food pack and benefit concert. This year, our Kids Against Hunger Benefit Concert will take place 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, in the Fairmont High School Performing Arts Center.

Our theme for the 2017 concert is “Blessed.” Our talented local students will be the entertainment for the evening. The concert will feature a variety of acts, such as vocalists, pianists, black light skits, dancing and much more.

This is a community event, and all ages are welcome. The concert is free to attend, and a free-will donation will be taken during the concert. All collections will go to funding our local Kids Against Hunger food pack on Saturday, Feb. 18.

We all have a chance to support our community and be a blessing to hungry people around the world. All it takes is one quarter to feed a hungry child. We hope to see you in the next few months at the concert and the food pack.

Don’t just count your blessings. Be the blessing other people count on.
