Hope to see you Feb. 18
To the Editor:
“If not us, then who? “If not me and you? Right now, its time for us to do something. If not now, then when?” — Matthew West
We have an upcoming opportunity, right here in Martin County, to do something about world hunger. Most of us will never be affected by malnutrition, but 21,000 people die every day because they simply do not have enough to eat. Many of our local citizens have said, “It’s time for us to do something.”
The 2017 Martin County Kids Against Hunger Pack will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Fairmont Armory. The food that’s packed is charged with nutrients that will help these people in need survive. Over the past eight years, we have packed 841,990 meals and raised more than $210,933. This year our goal is to pack 120,000 meals and raise $24,000. That’s 20 percent more than last year.
Would you consider joining this incredible effort? There are many ways you can help. Join a team or create your own team of up to 10 people to pack food. You can also join us for a fundraising concert put on by the area youth at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 in the Fairmont Junior/Senior High School PAC. Lastly, you can make a donation to help cover the cost of the ingredients in the meals we pack.
To sign up a team, individual or make a donation, contact Beth Reeve at (507) 235-5107 or Karen Sandhurst at (507) 848-1260. For more information, visit our website at http://kahfairmontmn. weebly.com
Thank you for your prayerful consideration, and we hope to see you Feb. 18.
